Longing For Food
Longing For Food There are a LOT of foods I can’t eat. A lot. I crave those forbidden foods, so much so I can feel it deep down in my bones. Sounds a bit like an odd expression, but it’s true. Sometimes, I even feel like I can taste the food. The foods I’ve eaten way back when are one thing, but foods I’ve never eaten before have this odd sort of taste memory for foods I’ve never even touched before. It’s … odd. Of course, there are those longings for foods I can eat – I’m looking at you free from everything delicious cuastard creams. Those I understand more. Not being able…

Not a picky eater.
Not just a picky eater. I get so many people – friendly, family, random people, and strangers on the internet telling me that I’m a picky eater. I wish. If I were a picky eater that would mean that I didn’t have to worry about cross contimination, it would mean I’d have more choice when out, and it would mean that maybe one day I could try eating the food that I’ve cut out again. But, I’m not a picky eater. I have intolerances, allergies, and IBS. And if you don’t believe me you’re mor ethan welcome to stand outside the door as I endure the after effects of the foods I’m too…

Tesco Free From Popped Potato Chips
Tesco Free From Popped Potato Chips are milk, wheat, and gluten free! That’s a good way to start by my books. The Tesco Free From Popped Potato Chips are new addition to Tesco's Free From range, and are suitable for vegans, gluten free, milk free, and wheat free (different to being gluten free). Per bag they are also rather low in saturated fat for a bag of chips at 0.1g, which isn't too bad.

Choices Choc N Orange Rondellos
Choices was the first chocolate I was introduced to it when I realised that I can't digests milk, and lactose. Sainsbury's stocked the Choices truffles, and I ate a lot of them. The amount I ate was obscene. Nowadays, I've been ‘cheating’ on Choices with Moo Free, and the odd indulgence of a Booja Booja chocolate, but I was given Choices Choc N Orange Rondellos as a gift by a family member - and who am I to turn down free free from chocolate!

Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs Salt & Vinegar Vibes
I picked up the Hippeas Organic Chick Pea Puffs Salt & Vinegar Vibes on a whim at a service station. The Hippeas Organic Chick Pea Puffs Salt & Vinegar Vibes are vegan, organic, dairy free, gluten free, and maize free. They're not exactly IBS friendly as they're made from chickpea, so they might upset a lot of stomaches. However, they do not contain potatoes! So, for those of you that cannot eat potatoes for either allergy or intolerance reasons, these are perfect for you.

Schar Gluten Free Mini Dippers
My favourite bit about the Schar gluten free mini dippers packaging is that it reminds me of school - it's got that nostalgic quality of dunking various carbohydrate laden foods into some sort of sweet mixture. I am all for it. However, I'm not all for the unnecessary plastic, as there's a lot of empty space as you can see. Granted, that's just after I'd finished most of the dippers (it was unexpectedly good), but there's a lot of unused space. It is also a bit difficult to get the broken Schar gluten free mini dippers out of the bottom of the packing

Top 10 Free From & Tummy Friendly Snacks
I ventured out of the house today. What was supposed to be a few hours out turned into 7 hours, and I got rather peckish whilst out. Being hungry whilst out is a nightmare, fellow intolerant/allergy sufferers will know what I mean by that. Unless you’ve scouted out friendly food venues, eating out safely unplanned just doesn’t happen. To combat this I’ve started taking out a rucksack with me so I can store a few different bits of snack food, water, extra meds, and my walking stick. It’s potentially a bit over the top for a small journey, but I’m so grateful to have the supplies when/if they’re needed. It also acts a…

My ‘Friend’ Lactose Intolerance
My ‘Friend’ Lactose Intolerance My good old friend, lactose intolerance. We’ve been friends for nearly 10 years now. 10 long years of pain, suffering, accidental encounters, and despair. First, I thought you were a joke. I mean you’re told milk is good for you. From a young age it’s thrown in your face that you have to make sure to drink your milk if you want healthy teeth and bones! Then, I thought you weren’t really serious. I mean, c’mon … a little cheese isn’t going to hurt anyone? Right? Just a small block, just to taste it again. And then, came the ‘forgetfulness’ stage. I mean, the last attack wasn’t that bad. And I…
